GIRL SCOUTS NATURE PROGRAMS

Our environmental education team has partnered with the Girl Scouts of America to provide rainforest, ecology and conservation programs for your Girl Scouts.

JUNGLE TALES
2nd Tuesday of each month     Ages: 2-5 (with adult)     Time: 10-11am      Fee: $4 per session

This popular preschool program focuses on the rain forest and our local environment. Join us each month for a different nature-related story, activity, and craft. This program fills up fast and pre-registration is required.

GUIDED CONSERVATORY TOURS

Join Master Gardeners as they conduct tours highlighting information about the interesting and unusual plants in the Conservatory.   Tours begin at 2:30pm every Saturday in June, July, and August, and the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of the month from September through May.

Junior Garden Club
Dates: Wednesdays, June 3-July 29;      Time: 10-12 p.m.        Fee: $50 for the whole session      Ages: 6-14
Itís time for some gardening fun! Participants in JGC will learn all about gardening and spend time planting and tending to their own vegetables in our Childrenís Garden. There is a different topic each session, but donít worry if you canít make it to them all. Registration required.

Little Green Thumbs
Date: Thursday, June 4nbsp;      Time: 10-11 a.m.        Fee: $4      Ages: 2-5
Bring your preschooler to this program with a focus on gardening. During the program we will read a story, play nature games, do nature crafts and spend some time in the Children's Garden. Registration required.

Jungle Tales
Date: Tuesday, June 9       Time: 10-11 a.m.        Fee: $4      Ages: 2-5
Bring your preschooler to this program with a focus on the natural world. Join us for a different nature-related story, activity and craft each month. Registration required.

Bonsai Show
Date: Saturday and Sunday, June 6 and 7       Time: 10am-5pm Saturday; 1pm-5pm Sunday        Fee: $3 per person      Ages: All
Come see a beautiful display of bonsai with the lush conservatory backdrop. Bonsai and bonsai care materials will be on sale as well.

Backyard Nature: Reptiles
Date: Monday, June 15       Time: 10-11 a.m.        Fee: $4      Ages: 2-8
Come join as we explore the slithery, scaly world of reptiles. We will meet some of the Conservatory's live animals up close and personal. Registration required.

Little Green Thumbs
Date: Thursday, July 2       Time: 10-11am       Fee: $5      Ages: 2-6
Bring your little gardener to get their hands dirty in the Children's Garden. Participants will have the opportunity to plant, care for, and harvest crops in the Garden. Registration required.

Stepping Stone Workshop
Date: Tuesday, July 7       Time: 5-7pm       Fee: $7      Ages:All Ages
Enjoy creating a decorative stepping stone, just in time for summer! Stones must be left to dry and can be picked up later. Registration required by July 1st.

Early Morning Meditation
Date: Saturday, July 11       Time: 8:30-9:30am       Fee: $10      Ages:All Ages
Join us for a tranquil morning in the tropical Conservatory. Program will begin with an instructor-led meditation and breathing exercise and end with free quite time for finding restorative peace. Registration required.

Early Morning Photography
Date: Saturday, July 18       Time: 8-10am       Fee: $5      Ages: 16 and up
Donít miss this opportunity to practice your photography skills in the morning before the Conservatory opens. The Conservatory is full of tropical orchids, palms, ferns and so much more! Each photographer will be allowed a tripod during this event. Make sure to register, as space is limited.

Backyard Nature: Pollinators
Date: Monday, July 20       Time: 10-11am       Fee: $4      Ages: 2-8
Whatís the buzz about pollinators? Join us to discover these cool animals through books, games, crafts and a Childrenís Garden pollinator hunt.Registration Required.

Garden Stories
Date: Thursdays, July       Time: 2:30pm       Fee: Free      Ages: All Ages
Bring the family to the Garden to enjoy a story show-and-tell. Bring your blanket or lawn chairs and kick back in the shade.

Family Outdoor Scavenger Hunt
Date: Thursdays, July       Time: 3:00-4:30pm       Fee: Free      Ages: All Ages
Stop by the Conservatory and pick up a copy of this yearís hunt that will send you around the Gardens and surrounding areas with your eyes peeled. Bring your finished hunt back and receive a prize.

Herbal Harvest
Date: Saturday, August 1       Time: 10-11am       Fee: $5      Ages: 16 and up
In this program presented by the Central Indiana Herb Society, learn about harvesting, drying, and storing herbs for home use. Registration required. Payment will be collected by instructor.

Worms, snails, beetles, and butterflies, oh my! There are so many bugs living in the Childrenís Garden and all around us! Join as we go in search of these cool critters and learn interesting facts about them.

Backyard Nature: Birds
Date: Monday, August 17       Time: 10-11am       Fee: $4      Ages:2-8
Fly on over to the conservatory and join us as we discover our feather friends through books, games, crafts and bird watching in the Childrenís Garden.
