Girl Scouts

GIRL SCOUTS NATURE PROGRAMS

Our environmental education team has partnered with the Girl Scouts of America to provide rainforest, ecology and conservation programs for your Girl Scouts.

JUNGLE TALES
2nd Tuesday of each month     Ages: 2-5 (with adult)     Time: 10-11am      Cost: $4 per session

This popular preschool program focuses on the rain forest and our local environment. Join us each month for a different nature-related story, activity, and craft. Activities may be messy or involve going outdoors, so dress appropriately. This program fills up fast and pre-registration is required.

NATURE NUTS FOR HOMESCHOOLERS
2nd Thursday of each month, Ages: 4-15 Time: 2-3pm, $4 per child,

Bring your students to explore a different nature topic each session. Come to one or come to all. Younger and older children are welcome to register; however content will be geared for children in 1st-3rd grade. Registration required.

GUIDED CONSERVATORY TOURS

Join Master Gardeners as they conduct tours highlighting information about the interesting and unusual plants in the Conservatory.   Tours begin at 2:30pm every Saturday in June, July, and August, and the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of the month from September through May.

Neo Natural: Botanically Inspired Art Works
Dates: February 1-March 2      Hours: Mon-Sat 10am-5pm    Sun: 1-5pm
Admission: $3 per person or $8 per family (max. 2 adults)
The Conservatory presents a unique exhibit of artwork among the plant forms that inspired it. Artists from Ball State University have created pieces in response to inspiration from the botanical collection to create a unique exhibit.

Family Garden Day: Feeder Friends
Ages: 3-14      Date: Saturday, March 1      Time: 2-3pm     
Fee: $4
Whoís visiting the backyard feeders this time of year? Come find out and make your own bird feeder craft to take home. Registration required (214663).

Escape to the Tropics
Dates: March 9       Hours: 1-5 p.m.    
Admission: FREE
Bring the family to enjoy a tropical festival at the Conservatory. Grab your favorite floral shirt and come enjoy crafts, treats, games and more! Learn what life is like for people just like you who live in the tropical rainforests.

Spring Bulb Show
Dates: March 14-21       Hours: Mon-Sat 10am-5pm, Sun: 1-5pm
Admission Fee: $3 per person or $8 per family (max. 2 adults)
Itís springtime at the Garfield Conservatory! Come see our stunning display of tulips and other spring blooms against the backdrop of our permanent tropical collection. Bulb Sale: Saturday, March 22 at 10 a.m.

Gnome Away From Home
Dates: March 28-April 6       Hours: Mon-Sat: 10am-5pm,    Sun: 1-5pm
Admission: $3 per person or $8 per family (max. 2 adults)
Itís spring break, and garden gnomes from far and wide have gathered at the Conservatory for a tropical vacation! Come see this whimsical display of garden gnomes enjoying the tropical escape and see if you can spot them all! Contact the Conservatory for information about bringing your beloved gnome to vacation with us.

Natural Magic
Ages: 2-5      Date: Monday, March 31     Time: 10-11am      
Fee: $4
Explore the Gnome Show with your preschooler and discover some of nature's tricky ways. Registration required (214514).

Orchid Show
Dates: Saturday and Sunday , April 12-13       Hours: 10 a.m.-5 p.m. both days    
Admission: $3 per person or $8 per family (max. 2 adults)
This weekend, the Garfield Conservatory will be filled with many of displays of blooming orchids from across the Midwest, all competing for awards. Come check out this annual event presented by the Central Indiana Orchid Society. Vendors will also be available with orchids for sale.
