Conservatory Guided Tours

Join us on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of the Month at 2:30 PM

Fee: $5 per person - paid to instructor at the time of the program

Ages: 16 and up

Join the Herb Society of Central Indiana and learn how to make herbal soaps. Find out about the use of herbs in salves, lotions and more from member Sharon Patterson. Class will include handouts, recipes and snacks. Registration required.

It's time to get planting in Blake's Garden. Join us to learn all about getting the garden started and help plant in some of our garden spaces. This evening of gardening and learning is open to all ages and gardening levels. Program will include a brief lesson, time to work, and crafts and activities for children. Registration required for everyone over age 3.

Garfield Park, while being an urban park, is also sanctuary for wildlife. Join a park naturalist on walk through the park in search of birds. If you've never been on a bird walk before or consider yourself an expert birder, this is open to all. Registration is required. Please remember to bring binoculars, if you have them. A limited number of binoculars will be available. Also, remember to wear your walking shoes; bring a hat, sunscreen or bug spray if you think you'll need them.

This is not just a sale! In addition to annual and perennial plants for sale, the Master Gardeners will also be on hand to give advice and answer all of your gardening questions. Admission to sale is free, plant prices vary.

Little Green Thumbs

Date: Wednesday, May 27, 2020

Time: 10 - 11 am

Fee: $5     Ages: 2-8

Bring your little gardener to get their hands dirty in the Children's Garden. Participants will have the opportunity to plant, care for, and harvest crops in the Garden. Come to one, or come to all. Registration required.

 

Weeds, Watering and More
Date: Tuesday, June 2
Time: 6:15-7:15 p.m.
Fee: $4 per person    Ages: All

 

Join our educators in Blake’s Garden for an evening of gardening and learning. Learn about garden maintenance, including weed identification and watering tips and tricks. Practice your skills in our garden beds and see if there’s anything to harvest. Crafts and activities will be available for the youngsters to enjoy. Registration required.  All ages, 2 and under are free.

 

Bonsai Show
Dates: Saturday, June 6 & Sunday, June 7
Times: Saturday: 10:00 am-5:00 pm & Sunday: 1:00-5:00 pm
Fees: $4 per person or $10 per family (2 adult max.)     Ages: All

 

Join the Indianapolis Bonsai Club as they showcase their unique bonsai specimens throughout the Conservatory. Club members will be available to answer your questions, and vendors will have items for sale.

 

Jungle Tales

Nature Play Day

Join us as we celebrate Nature Play Days and enjoy fun, self-guided outdoor activities. Kids will have a chance to explore the park, play and create.  Come to the front desk to pick-up a self-guided packet to return for a prize. No registration required.

Super Succulents

Succulents are the plants that keep on giving!  Join us and learn how to grow and propagate succulents.  Use these skills to create a mini succulent planter.  Registration required.

Birds and Beans

Join us as we discover the history of coffee and gain a greater appreciation for one of our favorite beverages.  Learn more about how coffee can be grown in harmony with the rainforest. Program will a chance to sample different varieties of coffees and see our Conservatory coffee trees.
