Herbal Harvest
Date: Saturday, Aug 1
Time: 10:00-11:30 am
Fee: $5 paid to instructor      Ages: Adult

Join the Herb Society of Central Indiana for a program on harvesting, drying, storing, and cooking with herbs. Program will include take home handouts, recipes to get ready for the chill of autumn and of course herbal snacks. Reservations required - $5 payment make to instructor on day of program. 
 

Children’s Garden Harvest
Date: Tuesday, August 6
Time: 6:15-7:15 p.m.
Fee: $4 per person    Ages: All

Join our educators in Blake’s Garden for an evening of gardening and learning. Learn how to tell when produce is ready to harvest and see what’s producing in the garden’s raised beds. Crafts and activities will be available for the youngsters to enjoy. Registration required.  All ages, 2 and under are free.
 

Jungle Tales
Date: Tuesday, August 11
Time: 10:00-11:00 am
Fee: $5 per child      Ages: 2-5

Bring your preschooler to this program with a focus on the natural world.  Join us for a different nature-related story, activity and craft each month.  Registration required.
 

Chimney Swift Watch
Date: Friday, August 14
Time: 8:30-9:30 pm
Fee: $6 per person      Ages: All

Join a park naturalist at the Pagoda for an evening of learning about and observing the Chimney Swift colony that lives at the Art Center. Bring your picnic blankets, chairs and snacks and hang out with us as we watch the colony start their summer evening rituals and learn about conservation efforts for these majestic little birds.
 

Garfield Bird Walk
Date: Saturday, August 15
Time: 8:00-9:30 am
Fee: $5 per person      Ages: All

Garfield Park, while being an urban park, is also sanctuary for wildlife. Join a park naturalist on walk through the park in search of birds. If you've never been on a bird walk before or consider yourself an expert birder, this is open to all. Registration is required. Please remember to wear your walking shoes and bring binoculars if you have them.
 

Little Green Thumbs
Date: Wednesday, August 19
Time: 10:00-11:00 am
Fee: $5 per child      Ages: 2-5

Join us as we get to gardening in Blake’s Garden!  Young ones will learn about starting a garden and have the chance to help plant our vegetable garden. There will also be a story, craft and time to explore. Registration required.
 

Garfield Park Biergarten
Date: Thursday, August 20
Time: 5:30- 9 pm
Fee: Free     Ages: All

Enjoy this special event in the Sunken Garden with drinks from Garfield Brewery, food for purchase, and live entertainment.  Admission to the Garden is free, so come enjoy an evening with friends and neighbors.
 

Beautiful Butterflies
Date: Saturday, August 22
Time: 2:00-3:00 pm
Fee: $5 per child      Ages: 5-12

We love butterflies and we’ve planted their favorite flowers all over the gardens. Explore with us as we discover butterflies and caterpillars and make a cool craft! Registration required.
 
Garden Harvest Ideas

Time: 2:00-3:00 p.m.
Fee: $5 per person     Ages: 16 & Up

Join our educators in Blake’s Garden for a Saturday of gardening and learning. Learn how to use or preserve the bounty your garden gives you. Topics will include: water bath canning some produce; prepping, cooking and freezing produce; and strategies for ripening and using the very last of your produce. Registration required.
