Photography at the Conservatory and Sunken Garden

Please note: We are currently unable to issue photography permits for the Sunken Garden​ due to the construction of the fountains.

 

​​If you are interested in using the Conservatory (inside gardens) or Sunken Garden (fenced in garden with fountains) as a backdrop for any portrait or product photography or videography, then you must purchase a photo permit. Please read the information below to see if it applies to you.

Who Needs a permit:

1. Anyone doing portrait photography or videography, it doesn't matter what kind of camera you are using: iPhone/phone, digital, Polaroid, film, video camera, etc. It also doesn't matter who is taking the photos. Parents, family, friends, a paid photographer. It's the subject matter. If you are using the conservatory as a BACKDROP for portrait photos you NEED a permit and one cannot be issued on the spot. It must be booked 2 weeks in advance.

 

2. Anyone doing prom, senior, engagement, wedding, maternity, family, quinceanera, graduation, professional headshots, modeling, portrait photography class assignments, product photography, artwork photography, music videos, promotional videos or photography as art to sell.

 

There may be other reasons why a photo/video permit is required, please inquire before arriving to insure what you plan on doing is allowed. Also please read the information below about our different permit pricings.

If you do receive a permit, please note:

• You cannot bring clothes to change into the conservatory, we do not allow changing in our restroom.

• Clothing must be appropriate, as we are still open to the public, so it must not be distasteful to other visitors.

• You are allowed one tripod as far as extra equipment. You cannot bring lights, filters or other equipment.

• You cannot block the paths at any point during your photoshoot. And you must stay on the paths at all times.

THE CONSERVATORY IS ONLY AVAILABLE TUESDAY-FRIDAY BETWEEN 11-4 PM FOR ONE HOUR TIMESLOTS FOR PHOTOGRAPHY PERMITS. AND WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE DURING SPECIAL DISPLAYS. FOR A FULL LIST OF THOSE DISPLAYS AND DATES, CLICK HERE:

THE SUNKEN GARDEN IS AVAILABLE ON WEEKENDS AS WELL AS WEEKDAYS (TUES-FRI) BETWEEN 10-4 PM. SUNDAYS 1-4 PM. IT IS ADVISED THIS SPACE NOT BE BOOKED AT THIS POINT.

STARTING SPRING 2024 THERE WILL BE CONSTRUCTION IN THE SUNKEN GARDENS. THE FOUNTAINS WILL NOT BE IN OPERATION AND THERE WILL NOT BE FLOWERS IN THE LOWER GARDENS. THERE MAY EVEN BE CONSTRUCTION EQUIPMENT, SO PLEASE NOTE THAT WHEN LOOKING AT PERMITS FOR THE SUNKEN GARDEN.
