Recycled Valentines Cards

Date: Saturday, February 10th, 2024

Time: 10-11 AM

Fee: $6 per child    Ages: 3-10

 

Show your love for our planet while showing your love for others, by making Valentine’s cards from recycled materials. Registration required.

Sweets for Your Sweetie

Date: Wednesday, February 14th, 2024

Times: 6:00, 7:00, 8:00 PM

Fee: $12 per person    Ages: 18 and up

Celebrate Valentine's Day with treats from the tropics including chocolate and coffee, all while enjoying the candlelit romantic
atmosphere of the Conservatory. Make reservations early, as space is limited. Pre-registration required. Registration will open on Sunday,
January 14 at 10 am.

Hoosier Herpetological Society - Reptile and Amphibian Show

Date: Saturday, February 17th, 2024

Time: 10 AM - 2 PM

Fee: Free | Drop-In    Ages: All

 

The Hoosier Herpetological Society is back to share of their favorite reptiles and amphibians! Stop by and see what cool critters they have brought with them this time! Admission is free! (Donations will be accepted.)

 

Rainforest Collage Art

Date: Saturday, February 24th, 2024

Time: 2-3pm

Fee: $6 per person     Ages: 10+

 

Young children and adults alike enjoy collage art- and what better medium to use than the Conservatory foliage and flowers!?

We’ve spent weeks pressing plant pieces from our collection and are inviting you to bring a friend and your limitless imagination in creating a plant filled collage on canvas. Registration required.

 

Coffee and Conservation

Date: Thursday, February 29th, 2024

Time: 6-7 PM

Fee: $7 per person    Ages: Adult

Join us as we discover the history of coffee and gain a greater appreciation for one of our favorite beverages. Learn more about how coffee can be grown in harmony with the rainforest and protect Indiana native migratory birds. Registration required.

Spring Bulb Show

Dates: Friday, March 1 - Friday, March 9, 2024

Times: Tues-Saturday 10 AM - 5 PM | Sunday 1-5 PM

Fee: $6 per person | $14 per family (2 adults max, children under 18 yrs)

It’s springtime at the Garfield Conservatory! Come see our stunning display of tulips and other spring blooms against the backdrop of our permanent tropical collection.

Bulbs from the display will be for a sale beginning Saturday, March 9 at 10:00 am

Starting Herbs from Seed

Date: Saturday, March 2nd, 2024

Time: 10-11:30 AM

Fee: $6 per person    Ages: Adult

Join the Central Indiana Herb Society for a fun workshop about starting herbs from seed. Many believe this to be a hard task, but the Herb Society will show you just how easy it is and there will even be a take home craft. Registration required. 

Jungle Tales

Date: Tuesday, March 12th, 2024

Time: 10-11 AM

Fee: $6 per child    Ages: 2-5

Bring your preschooler to this program with a focus on the natural world. Join us for a story, activity and craft each month. Registration required. 

 

Gnomes on Spring Break

Dates: Friday, March 22 - Sunday, April 7

Times: Tues-Saturday 10 AM - 5 PM | Sundays 1-5 PM

Fee: $6 per person | $14 per family (2 adults max, children under 18 yrs)

 

This spring break garden gnomes from far and wide will gather at the Conservatory! See this whimsical display of garden gnomes and try to spot them all! This year’s theme is “Gnomes Save the Day,” allowing visitors to enjoy the gnomes’ as our favorite superheroes. Contact the staff for information about loaning a gnome to be part of the display.

Garden Storytime

Date: Friday, March 22nd, 2024

Time: 10 AM

Fee: FREE | DROP-IN    Ages: All (Recommended Ages 2-8)

Join us in Blake’s Children’s Garden as we learn about nature through a story reading. After the reading children are encouraged to stay and explore the garden. This program is free and open to anyone wishing to attend. The target age range is 2-8 years old.

Program will be moved into the classroom in case of inclement weather.

Critter Chat

Date: Saturday, March 23rd, 2024

Time: 2 PM

Fee: FREE | DROP-IN    Ages: All

Drop by Blake’s Garden to meet one of our resident critters. No registration needed. Program will be held in classroom if weather is

Marvelous World of Mushrooms

Date: Thursday, March 28, 2024

Time: 2-3pm

Fee: $8 per child     Ages: 4-12

 

Every March and April during our Gnome Show we put out tons of mushroom decor. However, one can never underestimate just how important mushrooms really are. They may not actually be homes for gnomes and fairies, but they do play an important roll in our environment. And did you know they are not actually plants?!

In this program we will learn all about mushrooms, do a mushroom craft and go on indoor and outdoor hunts for mushrooms real and pretend. Pre-registration is required in order to attend.

 

Program fee includes admission for one adult and one child to the Gnome Show.

Gnome & Fairyhouse Workshop

Date: Saturday, April 6th, 2024

Time: 2-3pm

Fee: $12 per person     Ages: 4 and up

 

Join us during our Gnomes on Spring Break Show for some additional magical fun. Bring your creativity and have fun making small gnome and fairy houses and figures out of natural objects. Registration required by March 29th.

Hot glue will be used and parents are asked to supervise or assist their children in using it. Tacky glue will also be available for objects that are able to take longer to set and it is advised to use this with kids when possible.

Central Indiana Orchid Society - Orchid Show

Dates: Saturday, April 20 & 21, 2024

Times: Saturday & Sunday 10 AM - 5 PM

Fee: $6 per person | $14 per family (2 adults max, children under 18 yrs)

This weekend, the Conservatory will be filled with displays of blooming orchids from across the Midwest. Orchids will also be available for sale.
