Sweets for Your Sweetie - FULL

Saturday, February 14, 2026 - regist. opens Jan 14th

Ages: 18 and up – $15 per person

 

Celebrate Valentine's Day with treats from the tropics including chocolate and coffee, all while enjoying the candlelit romantic atmosphere of the Conservatory. Make reservations early, as space is limited.

 

Coffee and Conservation

Thursday, February 19, 2026 – 6-7 pm

Ages: 16 and up – $10 per person

 

Join us as we discover the history of coffee and gain a greater appreciation for one of our favorite beverages. Learn more about how coffee can be grown in harmony with the rainforest and protect Indiana native migratory birds. Registration required.

The Hoosier Herpetological Society is back to share of their favorite reptiles and amphibians! Stop by and see what cool critters they have brought with them this time! Admission is free! (Donations will be accepted.)

March 20 – April 5, 2026

$7 per person or $15 per family (2 adults max.)

 

This spring break garden gnomes from far and wide will gather at the Conservatory! See this whimsical display of garden gnomes and try to spot them all! This year’s theme is “Metro-gnomes: a Musical Tribute,” allowing visitors to enjoy the gnomes’ take on popular music genres. Contact the staff for information about loaning a gnome to be part of the display.

Once Upon a Gnome (Storytime)

Friday, March 27, 2026 | 10 am

Ages: All (Geared towards ages 2-8) |Free | Drop-in

 

Join us in the Conservatory Classroom as we learn about a mischievous gnome through a story reading. After the reading children are encouraged to stay and explore the Gnome Show Display. This program is free and open to anyone wishing to attend. The target age range is 2-8 years old. Show admission is separate.

Starting an Herb Garden from Seed

Saturday, March 14 | 10-11:30 am

$6 per person | Ages: Adult

 

Join the Central Indiana Herb Society this spring for an introduction to herbs and starting an herb garden. Registration required.

 

Grow Your Own Mushrooms

Saturday, March 28 | 11 am - 12 pm

$55 per person | Ages: Adult

Turn a log into a gnome-approved gourmet mushroom garden with Mike's Mycology! Come learn how to inoculate and tend your own mushroom log for years of harvest.


Please note: in addition to the $5 registration fee, this class includes a $50 cost for materials, paid directly to Mike's Mycology.

Refresh your gut bio-gnome with delicious homemade sauerkraut! We'll learn the basics of fermentation, get our hands salty, and turn cabbage into something wonderful.

Fermentation Station: Kombucha

Saturday, April 4, 2026 | 1-2 pm

Ages: Adult| Fee: $15 per person

For the price of a few bottles kombucha, why not learn how to brew your own? We’ll meet the enigmatic SCOBY, cover both parts of the fermentation process, and share winning flavor tips and combinations! SCOBY and flip-top bottle included. Limit 15 people; pre-registration required.

This weekend, the Garfield Conservatory will be filled with displays of blooming orchids from across the Midwest. Come check out this annual event presented by the Central Indiana Orchid Society. Orchids will also be available for sale.
