Herbal Harvest

​Join the Herb Society of Central Indiana for all things herbs! Learn about harvesting, drying, storing and cooking with your garden harvest. Registration required.

 

Visitor Appreciation Day

Sunday, August 2 | 1-5 pm

Free Admission to the Conservatory

In appreciation of all our wonderful visitors and supporters, admission to the Conservatory is FREE on this day. Enjoy our unique tropical experience, including waterfalls, orchids, animals and more! No registration required.

Dollar Menu Night

Wednesday, August 5 | 6pm-7ish

Ages: All | Fee: $1

Come meet your neighbors as we harvest, cook, and share a meal from the veggies growing in Blakes' Garden! And yes, it really is just a dollar. Do register online so I know how many we're cooking for.

Cactus and Succulent Show
August 7-23, 2026

Tues-Sat 10 am - 5 pm, Sun 1-5 pm

Come one, come all to the Third Annual Cactus and Succulent Show! We're partnering with several local institutions to bring you a whimsical and creative display of some of the coolest cacti and succulents around town!

Little Green Thumbs

Wednesday, August 26 | 10-11 am

$6 per child | Ages: 2-5

 

Celebrate summer sunshine! We'll learn how plants eat light, and then use the sun to make animal-shaped crayons. Registration required.

Fermentation Station: Hot Sauce and Ketchup

Saturday, August 29 | 1-2 pm

$15 per person | Ages: 10 and up

Live-culture condiments are a hurried cook’s best friend! Fermented hot sauce packs a complex, flavorful taste tailored to your own heat preferences. And fermented ketchup? It takes us back to the sauce’s origin, for a zingy tomato paste that won’t grow mold in the fridge.

Dollar Menu Night

Wednesday September 2, 6pm-7-ish

$1 per person

Remember the dollar menu days? We’re bringing it back in the children’s garden! Drop by to harvest, prepare, and share a simple garden meal in good company. The menu will vary week by week, based on the garden’s abundance. $1 per person eating.

 

Bonsai Show
Saturday & Sunday, September 5 & 6

Saturday: 10am-5pm, Sunday: 1-5pm
$7 per person, $15 per family (2 adults max per family)

 

Join the Indianapolis Bonsai Club as they showcase their unique bonsai specimens throughout the Conservatory. Club members will be available to answer your questions, and vendors will have items for sale.

Little Green Thumbs

Join us as we get to gardening in Blake’s Garden!  Young ones will learn about gardening and have the chance to help plant, grow and harvest in our vegetable garden. There will also be a story, craft and time to explore. Registration required.

Green tomatoes piling up at the end of summer? Turn them into a fermented salsa verde that will add joy to your corn chips all winter long!

Herbal Soaps Workshop

Saturday, October 17 | 10-11:30 AM

Ages: 16 and up | $6 per person

 

Join the Herb Society of Central Indiana for an opportunity to learn more about soap making. Program will include recipes, handouts and a hands-on workshop.

 

Registration is required.

Creepy Creatures

Friday, October 23 | 10-11 am

Ages: 2-8

Fee: $ 7 per child (1 adult admission included)

 

Put on your Halloween costume and come learn about some creepy and not-so-creepy creatures. Have fun meeting live critters and doing a craft. Registration required.

 

Haunted Conservatory

Thursday & Friday, October 29 & 30 | 5:30-9 pm

Ages: 2 and up | Fee: $ 6 per person

 

5:30 - 7:00 PM | Less Haunted Conservatory. Bring the little ones in their costumes for Halloween fun during our less scary daylight hours of the Haunted Conservatory. There will be no scarers. Just tropical plants all decked out for Halloween.

 

7:00 - 9:00 PM | Get spooked as you walk through the Haunted Conservatory, complete with scary music, decoration and ghouls! (recommended for ages 8+)

 

No pre-registration; admission is paid at the door.

 

Note: Event includes the use of strobe lights and artificial fog.
