Houseplants Gone Wild!

Date: Saturday, January 10, 2026 | 11am

Ages: Adult | Fee: $15 per person

 

From pothos to monsteras, our beloved houseplants come to us from all corners of the globe. Join us for a conservatory tour showcasing massive specimens of favorite houseplants, and then share a pot of tea as we explore the Victorian origins of the houseplant craze and catch a glimpse of household greenery in their native habitats. We’ll finish by planting cuttings from our wild-sized plants for you to take home! Limit 20 people.

Ages: 2-5 | Fee: $6 per child

 

Bring your preschooler to a program with a focus on the natural world. There will be a story, activities, crafts and so much more. Registration required; space is limited.

Jurassic Conservatory

Saturday, January 17, 2026 | 11 am

Ages: 10 and up | Fee: $10 per person

Did you know Indiana used to be an equatorial swamp? Have you ever wondered why no one finds dinosaur fossils here? And what’s that tropical-but-native fruit tree that owes its range to vanished herds of mastodons? Join us for a conservatory tour through time as we glimpse Indiana’s deep past and trace the history of life on land through the “living fossil” plants in our collection.

Drop by Blake’s Garden to meet one of our resident critters. No registration needed. Program will be held in classroom if weather is inclement.

 

Visitor Appreciation Day

In appreciation of all our wonderful visitors and supporters, admission to the Conservatory is FREE on this day. Enjoy our unique tropical experience, including waterfalls, orchids, animals and more - all for free!

Reptile & Amphibian Show

The Hoosier Herpetological Society is back to share of their favorite reptiles and amphibians! Stop by and see what cool critters they have brought with them this time! Admission is free! (Donations will be accepted.)

Sweets for Your Sweetie

Saturday, February 14, 2026 - regist. opens Jan 14th

Ages: 18 and up – $15 per person

 

Celebrate Valentine's Day with treats from the tropics including chocolate and coffee, all while enjoying the candlelit romantic atmosphere of the Conservatory. Make reservations early, as space is limited.

 

Coffee and Conservation - JH

Thursday, February 19, 2026 – 6-7PM

Ages: 16 and up – $10 per person

 

Join us as we discover the history of coffee and gain a greater appreciation for one of our favorite beverages. Learn more about how coffee can be grown in harmony with the rainforest and protect Indiana native migratory birds. Registration required.

Gnome Away from Home

March 20 – April 5, 2026

$6 per person or $14 per family (2 adults max.)

 

This spring break garden gnomes from far and wide will gather at the Conservatory! See this whimsical display of garden gnomes and try to spot them all! This year’s theme is “Metro-gnomes: a Musical Tribute,” allowing visitors to enjoy the gnomes’ take on popular music genres. Contact the staff for information about loaning a gnome to be part of the display.

 

Once Upon a Gnome (Storytime)

Friday, March 27, 2026 | 10 am

Ages: All (Geared towards ages 2-8) |Free | Drop-in

 

Join us in the Conservatory Classroom as we learn about a mischievous gnome through a story reading. After the reading children are encouraged to stay and explore the Gnome Show Display. This program is free and open to anyone wishing to attend. The target age range is 2-8 years old.
